Valerie’s interest in joining the Central Kootenay Food Policy Council stems from her work as the Administrator for the Lardeau Valley Opportunity LINKS Society. The Lardeau Valley has a long history of farming and plays a key role in local food production for communities at the north end of Kootenay Lake. Understanding the importance of agriculture within the Lardeau Valley, LINKS worked alongside the Regional District of Central Kootenay and the province of British Columbia to initiate a three-year Farmers Innovation program which supported North Kootenay Lake farmers via infrastructure grants and wage subsidy support
