Welcoming our new Executive Director

We are thrilled to announce our new Executive Director, Marya Skrypiczajko. Marya comes to the Council with a deep understanding of food systems in BC and locally.

For fourteen years she led the evolution of the Nelson Food Cupboard from a one program initiative to the Community Food Centre, with a host of programs serving residents in Nelson and area. “I am impressed by the breadth of resource development, networking, education and policy advocacy work accomplished by the Council and I am inspired by the serious commitment to moving forward on a path toward decolonization and reconciliation”, commented Marya.

The Food Policy Council team now expands to three people. After leading the Food Policy Council for 6 years, Abra Brynne has shifted into a newly created Policy Director role.
