On February 21st, 14 of our region’s farm leaders in the organic sector came together for the Annual General Meeting of Kootenay Organic Growers (KOGS). As became clear through the various reports from the Board, the organization is in a very positive place: there are plenty of volunteers to meet the needs of the Board and of the Certification Committee; and KOGS bank account also provides a healthy buffer in case KOGS has any unexpected demands, such as additional costs related to bringing in an inspector to provide inspection services of the farms during a pandemic. Following the business of the AGM, everyone stuck around for a fruitful discussion about farming, seeds, and the finer points of wind-resistant greenhouse structures.
